Freight hearings flag freight rate woes in The Pas area

The Pas freight hearing exposed disordered meat storage along Lamb Air routes to Moose Lake and high car shipping costs from Winnipeg to Thicket Portage. Critics cited discrimination against small northern centers, railway delays for Snow Lake distribution, and calls for a highway link from Easterville to shorten trips from Winnipeg. Local officials urged action on trucking surcharges and fuel shipments, while residents pressed for road improvements and broader access to Manitoba markets.
