New Start Projects Transform Prince Albert Community
The Prince Albert Newstart Inc project, led by director D S Conger and PR head Sheila Stuart, aims to recruit and train underemployed job seekers. Results include twelve women aged 23 to 54 placed as teacher's assistants after a six week program, plus a community pride revival led by Ken Howard through Nordale area activities and local organization work. The program, under federal Manpower and Immigration and later Forestry and Rural Development, is funded at about 5 million dollars over five years and targets re integrating chronically unemployed people into productive roles.
