Kelsey School Division launches family life and sex education

The Kelsey School Division No 45 begins an eight to twelve week Family Life and Sex Education program taught by Northern Health Services staff. Sidewalk Snow Clearing Machine Arrives in The Pas

The new sidewalk snow clearing machine arrived in The Pas last Thursday and was tested Friday. Priced at 7000 dollars, it can travel up to 15 mph when snow is loose. Town engineer Steve Samu said current sidewalk snow is packed and will require more time to clean down to concrete. The machine was ordered after the council decided to keep meters in operation year round.

CBC Crew Plans Film Festival Coverage of Trappers' Festival

A CBC crew of eight will attend the 25th annual Trappers' Festival to film the event Ted Benoit announced CBC filming. Last film was shot in 1962 and crew room accommodations and union rules caused initial problems. Hotel rooms are reserved and the crew will continue.

Dairy farming in Carrot River Valley fades from the scene

The Herald reports dairy farming near The Pas is diminishing as costs of labor and long hours drive farmers to quit. Brothers John and Matt Kolebaba started in 1948 and 1952. Matt plans to sell out while John may farm on a small scale. Matt, over 70, cites lack of help and health as key factors.

Retarded Group Reopens Pas Branch Seeks Support

The Pas branch of the Canadian Association for the Mentally Retarded Manitoba Division has been reactivated by a small group. At a December 1 meeting an executive was elected to lead activities. A public meeting is planned January 24 1972 at 7 30 p m in Mary Duncan School Music Room to discuss community needs in mental retardation.
