Town Council backed not to increase compensation at this time after Councillor Bert Hayes proposed a first reading to raise indemnity for mayor and councillors. Discussion was tabled to the February meeting following aDinner meeting where members reportedly favored the proposal. Mayor Jack Kennedy recalled the talk but said a final analysis suggested waiting to assess the matter.

Firemen Called Three Times Last Week in The Pas
Volunteer firemen attended three fires in The Pas last week. The most serious was at the home of Dy and Mrs. Ben Templeton at 58 Williams Avenue. Firemen were called at 8:30 p.m. to extinguish a kitchen stove fire that spread up the hall and cupboards causing an estimated 1500 dollars in damage. Fire Chief Tom Earley said the Templetons were not home and a babysitter was preparing to cook.

Town Council Tough on Trailer Offenders
