Local residents hosted New Year guests from Hudon Bay Saskatchewan and Three Hills Alberta. Families mentioned include Nerbas, Elgie, Carmichael, Newstead, Wolfe, and Hayes with travel to Winnipeg for schooling and holidays. District curling playdowns set for Creighton on January 15 to 17 with entry calls.
Friends held a nurse shower at a Lindal home for Loretta as she arrived from Winnipeg. Games and a gift basket followed by a buffet lunch featured well wishers including Miss Ann Thomson and Mrs. M. Reader. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Stewart returned to Winnipeg after New Year visits with the Mitchuk family. Miss Rosemary Schiefele spent Christmas with family in Flin Flon and Vaughn Wadelius joined them for New Years.
Mrs. Jean Pedan wins the Royal Purple dress raffled in December. Draw held December 21. Lodge plans first meeting of the new year on Thursday January 7 at 8 00 p m in the Elks Hall Tickets available from lodge members for the Annual event.
A bake sale and bottle pick up are planned for Saturday January 9 at Grants Meat Market at 2 00 PM to benefit the Curling Club Queen candidate Judy Colgan. Tickets for the Mary Maxim sweater will be sold as well. Guests over Christmas stayed at Mr and Mrs Gilbert Suchy and their children Craig Carole Debby and the Suchys son David from Winnipeg and Thompson relatives.
