New Records Established in Freight Race at World Championship
Bert Travis leads the 15 mile Freight Race with 17 entrants as Gulf Oil funds prizes from 100 to 15 dollars. The event requires each musher to carry a 25 pound sand bag per dog, with up to five dogs per team. Danny Butler Jr wins the Junior Musher trophy in 1 19 42 for 25 miles, with Ricki Calvert, Pat Bignell, Percy White, Vernon Jebb, and Glen Calvert following in short order.
