Farmers propose LGD fire protection plan with extinguishers
The Herald reports Harry Vandenbogerd proposing a farmer run scheme for fire protection in the LGD. About 133,000 acres and 100 farmers would place six to twelve large extinguishers at farms with a rapid phone response, aiming to beat town fire crews to a blaze. Former fire chief Tom Earley backs feasibility, noting extinguishers can halt sizable fires if used correctly.
