The Pas District Farmers' Co-op Association objected at a public hearing to non-farm development in the L.G.D. of Consol and urged a 160 acre minimum for dwelling sites. Three RCMP Called Over Weekend Hotel Fight

Town RCMP were summoned three times last week to investigate brawls at The Avenue Hotel and outside Gourmet Pizza. On Friday April 2 two patrol cars responded to a fight at The Avenue Hotel but the combatants left before arrival. Saturday night officers interviewed two men and asked them to report Monday, but the men did not appear.

Yaremko Lands 27.5 Pound Lake Trout at Clearwater Lake

Mrs. Resa Yaremko hauled a 27.5 pound lake trout from Clearwater Lake on Sunday March 28 after a one hour fight. Her husband chipped through 44 inches of ice to assist. She plans to mount the trophy and has fished five years without a prior trophy.

Pioneer aviator and The Pas businessman Jack Hone dies

Jack Hone of The Pas, a northern aviation pioneer and prominent local entrepreneur, died suddenly at 74. Born in Britton Ontario, he built Arrow Airways and later worked with Sherritt Gordon Mines before serving as RC A F Wing Commander. He helped found The Pas Air Cadet Squadron and served on the town council. Funeral was at Westminster United Church.
