Local Couple United At Sunday Wedding

Mr. Russell L Guymon and Mier Eva Marshall of this city were married last Sunday afternoon at the groom’s grandmother’s home. The ceremony was performed as 4 ore slack by Bishop W L Adams in the presence of family and close friends. The groom is a son of M Ly n Guymon Jr and a Parowan High School graduate. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs George Marshall of Minersville, owns Bya’s Beauty Salon and has been a beauty operator here for almost two years. They will continue to reside here.

Parawan High Opens First Football Game Friday

Parawan High school hosts its inaugural football game against Cedar High School next Friday afternoon September 22 on the new city race track grounds. Coach Slater leads the squad with daily practice. the event invites all community members to attend.

Big Utah State Fair Opens With Wide Exhibits and Entertainment

The 1939 Utah State Fair opens Saturday and runs eight days through September 23. Officials promise an unprecedented display of crops, livestock, and 4 H exhibits, with early fruit displays, enhanced women’s crafts, and a strong livestock show. 4-H and Future Farmers of America projects lead pre-fair activities. A free circus, a massed concert by 60 Utah and Idaho instrumentalists, and numerous band performances will animate the fairgrounds alongside exhibits and judging.

Local boy wed Kanarra girl in city ceremony

Last Saturday evening Laula Dalton and Iris Wood were united in marriage at Bishop T Wendell Bayles home with Arnold Taylor and his wife as witnesses. The groom is son of Mr and Mrs Meeks Dalton of 1Psrowan and the bride a daughter of Mr and Mrs Jewett Wood of Kanarra. The couple plan to reside here.

Funeral Held For Mrs Clark Benson In Hurricane

Local residents attended the funeral in Hurricane for Mrs Clark Benson who died at St George the previous Saturday after childbirth. Services were at a local church with interment in St George cemetery. Attendees included Arch Benson Betsy Haycock Clara Benson Lorin Seach McKay Smith L B Bennett Libbie Gogoff. James N Connell traveled from here to Cedar City and St George before returning to Los Angeles.

Parowan High School to Open Monday Morning

The Parowan High School will start classes Monday morning September 16 at 9 o’clock. all high school students are urged to attend promptly. Principal L. B. Bennett presides. The East Ward Mutual Improvement Association sets a Sunday program at 2 o’clock with musical numbers and talks on youth work, inviting all ward members.

Wife Of Former Resident Buried At Enterprise

Venetta Winsor Adams 43, wife of Roy Adams and sister of local Adams family, died of a paralytic stroke last Wednesday and was buried at Enterprise Tuesday afternoon. Survived by husband, mother Lydia Winsor 82, nine children, four brothers, three sisters. Funeral attended by many locals including Hugh L Adams family and others from Paragonah and Salt Lake City. Editor notes recount Pioneer Industrial Center inscription and Parowan history, with brief visit from Florence Orton Mitchell en route to Salt Lake City.

District Court Holds 4 Day Session Here

The September term of the District Court for Iran County convened Monday afternoon and ran to the next evening. Criminals pled guilty in two cases, with sentences and probation terms set. civil actions were resolved or moved, including naturalization for Toy Burrell, a retrial in a fire damages suit, and divorces with child custody and alimony awarded.

TWO WARDS JOIN IX M LA OPENING SOCIAL

The WLA formed by the union of two Paro wards held opening socials in the West Ward chapel and recreation hall inviting Tayge groups from both wards. Officers and teachers were introduced, group singing occurred, and attendees enjoyed dancing games and refreshments of candy and peanuts. Luke MIA Board members from Cedar City attended.
