Parowan Hosts Railroad Officials Banquet and Cedar Breaks Trip

A party of twelve to thirteen railroad executives and guests visited Parowan for a banquet at Relief Hall after touring Zion, the Grand Canyon and Bryce. Notables included W S Bassenger A L Craig J A Reeves Eyre Powell and Lawrence Merringer. The event featured speeches by local leaders and a Cedar Breaks excursion the next day drawing many Cedar and Parowan residents.

Parowan City Ordinance Sets Officer Salary Schedules

The Parowan City Council adopts an ordinance amending section 143 to fix salaries for mayor, council, treasurer, recorder, and other officers for two years starting Jan 1, 1922 with annual scopes for each post. It repeals conflicting ordinances and is signed by City Recorder Morris.

Iron County Commission Minutes Prompt Road Repairs Ordered

Iron County Utah commissioners met September 12 1921 in Parowan. The board authorized road work including repairs and dragging after floods and ordered special attention to the Arrowhead Trail from Beaver to Washington counties. They planned a meeting with Washington County officials to discuss the Enterprise Modena Road. The group debated an extra architect fee for the county hospital and arranged travel for Governor Mabey’s party to Cedar Breaks.

School Opens and Registration Notice

School opens Monday September 19 with regular classes starting Monday September 26. Registration is closed Monday and Tuesday for institute and again Wednesday through Friday. Be sure to register on appointed days to allow proper class organization.

Fish Planting In Parowan Canyon By Gun and Rod Club

Ten thousand fish were planted last Thursday evening and Friday morning in Parowan Canyon streams with 6000 in Main canyon 2800 in Second Left Hand and 1200 in First Left Hand. Government and State supplied the fish free. transportation from Milford cost the Gun and Rod Club. J Alma Benson of Parowan Equitable fished the mountains and claimed daily limits. a 10 pound Panguitch lake trout was shown at Matheson Meat Market to prove the catch. Alma junior and F W Pendleton assisted in landing the fish.

Race Meet Delivers Thrilling Races and Controversy

Last week's meet featured exciting races and sharp ball games among Cedar Beaver and Parowan. Cruse won the final race by a margin, while Toothpicks placed second and a betting dispute led to a partial purse draw. Smith, the owner, left Henrieville after the row.

Governor Mabey to Visit Parowan on Road Inspection Tour

Governor Charles R. Mabey will arrive in Parowan on Monday with a party to inspect roads. County Commissioners plan to meet him and escort him via the canyon to Cedar Breaks. S. A. Halterman will guide the party by Parowan-Cedar Breaks line, with local residents likely joining.

In Patowan about 50 to 75 families remain non subscribers and more are delinquent. The paper offers to accept Wheat Oats Barley bran honey produce or spring pallets as payment for subscriptions. Mr Wilford Day left for Lund to oversee Cedar Lund road construction amid boss interference hurting profits. Real artists hearing them once convinces that the Harmony Four are true musicians. The lady violinist and saxophonist stand out with wonderful tones while the pianist and drummer also impress. Bootlegger in Justice Court Faces Fine and Jail Time

A local bootlegger known as the slickest in the United States pleaded guilty in Justice Morris's court and was fined 256 dollars or 254 days in jail after alcohol found in a suitcase linked him to the operation. The driver was cleared. Local officers also fined several others for drunkenness during the race meet.

County officials including H W Lunt Berry Williams and others attended a Parowan commissioners meeting on Monday. Local residents Jack Bowman and Kathleen Mitchell were mentioned with travel plans and winter wheat notes from E Palmer. Weather praised with Cedar Breaks views and autumn colors while wheat prices in Parowan were 8 per hard and 7 per soft.
