Death of L. Hardy Redd Shocks San Juan County Church Leader
The sudden death of L. Hardy Redd at Salt Lake City hospital followed an ulcer operation. Funeral services were held at the L D S Church in Monticello with a large turnout. Redd, 45, a prominent San Juan businessman and churchman, was born in Bluff City and lived in Bluff, Blanding, Monticello, and Parowan. He married Lovina Mickelson in 1912 and had ten children and a wide network of relatives and public roles across the county.

Car Accident Ends Cedar City Farmer Walter Morie’s Life
Walter Morie a Cedar City farmer and stock man died at the hospital after a Saturday crash near the rodeo grounds. He rode a horse toward Cedar City when a Ford runabout driven by J A Hyatt with two brothers and Orle Heap struck him, throwing the horse onto the radiator and breaking the saddle cinch. Brushed with head injuries Morie was unrecognized at first. The Hyatt car lacked proper lights, others say they were insufficient but visible. Sheriff investigations recommended a coroner’s inquest to determine negligence. Morie, past middle age and unmarried, is survived by three brothers and other relatives.
