Dalton Family Reunion Held in Parowan Utah
About 150 descendants of Edward Dalton gathered in Parowan for the first family reunion. Events ran August 24 and 30 with Harley W. Dalton elected head of the genealogical group and several officers named including vice presidents Bart Dalton John B Dalton Florence D Benson Ernest Dalton Clayton Mitchell Estella LaFevre. Luella A Dalton named secretary treasurer. A barbecue at Five-Mile featured A B Hatch and Edgar Henson. Evening program at West Ward included a history by Luella A Dalton and a talk by Bart Dalton. Second day toured Mammoth and Cedar Breaks.

Artes Hardy Rollo 82 a pioneer printer and editor died at Iron County Hospital Cedar City after a long career shaping Utah journalism He edited Parowan Times and Cedar City records and served as justice of the peace He was born September 17 1867 in Dundee Scotland and came to Utah in 1872 Surviving are three sons two daughters and several grandchildren Funeral services were held in Cedar City First Ward Church.

Kent Ward son of Clair Ward of Parowan graduated among 600 in the University of Utah fall class receiving a BS degree from the school of business. He resides in Salt Lake City with his wife Viola Noorda and two daughters and works as a bookkeeper for James M. Walker Monument Co. His father and sister Ivy attended rites in Salt Lake City and Ivy stayed for a few days to visit the family and meet the new baby.

A three day fair and horse show ended Saturday with prize winners in multiple departments. 4 H recipients included Clara Mae Grimshaw and Renee Jones of Enoch for Style dress review, Aurelia Jones of Enoch for club girl complete costume, Marlene Kirkpatrick of Parowan for best dress. Parowan Schools Opened Tuesday With New Faculty
Parowan schools opened with enrollment similar to last year says Principal A C Hatch and Alma Lawrence. Two new high school teachers Ivan Beem and his wife Jackie Leigh Beem join the staff. both are recent 1950 graduates. Beem teaches 9th grade English American history and some 7th grade classes while Mrs Beem handles English girls physical education speech drama and an algebra class. Faculty additions replace vacated posts of Max Dalley and Lowell Jackson. Elementary adds Eulala T Orton sixth grade and Bernell Evans fifth grade.

Horse Show Draws Crowds at Parowan County Fair Weekend
A joint horse show and county fair event drew large crowds in Parowan. Officials led by B. J. King and R. L. Fen and Clair Hulet organized the program, with judges Oronway Ma, Douglas Clark, and Neil New. Winners in multiple events included Brown Bomber, Verl Taylor, and Gary Bentley, with various races, bronco busting, roping, and pony events. The event featured performances by Layton Utah’s Flint Stables presenting champion American Saddlebred horses and a grand stand display of equine talent.
