County Fair Draws Huge Throngs in Iron County

Mrs Iona Topham local chair man of the Emergency Polio Drive announces a very satisfactory response from local citizens to the house to house canvas last Wednesday evening. Over $300 was collected by local clubs and civic organizations. about $30 was from the children's dance that afternoon. Amounts in business place containers cannot yet be computed. Contributions remain needed and appreciated. Mrs Topham thanks groups assisting in Parowan.

Funeral services were held in Salt Lake City Thursday for Mrs Denna Lowe Willesen 30 formerly of Parowan who died Monday in a Salt Lake City hospital of natural causes. She was born November 6 1923 in Parowan the eldest daughter of Alphonso and Edna Woodall Lowe. Surviving are her husband Rey L Willesen three children LaDon Colleen and Jackie all of Salt Lake City her father in Sacramento her mother in Long Beach three sisters Betty Brent and Dorothy Mae Lowe Long Beach and Lascille Cline Salt Lake City grandmother Mrs Sadie Woodall of Salt Lake City and two Parowan aunts Mrs Lillian Heap and Mrs Ada Evans.

Iron County students return to classrooms Tuesday September 7 with full staff at elementary and high school. Primary students report to assigned rooms at 9am with grade specific meetings for first and second grades. Lawrence Webb twenty died in San Diego when a crane boom toppled onto the cabin he occupied on a construction site.
