Plans for a cooperative jail with a sexton's garage workshop and more in Parowan and Cedar City are prepared and await city approval. Each building costs about 7000 dollars with the county sharing 40 to 50 percent. Additional county courthouse improvements are planned, including a new sheriff's office and jury room, with bids already called for the latter.
Ernest Dalton admitted to killing a doe and bringing a buck head into town after pursuing a buck and a doe for a long time. He confessed the head came from a nearby buck killed by Milt Robb of Paragonah. Sentencing not yet set. two other cases suspected, with ongoing investigation. Local gun and red clubs have boosted game protection.
Earl B Clark a former city resident and Miss Iva Knell of Newcastle wed in a ceremony conducted by Bishop H L Adams Monday evening. Both families hold ties to Kane County and Newcastle with friends wishing the couple long life and happiness.
Mr. Jos B Dalton president of the Iron County Wool Growers Association traveled to Salt Lake City as a delegate from the local group to discuss proposed reductions in permitted sheep numbers on the forest. The association endorsed an ten percent cut after a report from the advisory board on local ranges. Other issues such as ten year permits will be discussed at the Salt Lake City meeting.

The Misses Olive Twila and Helen Gould and their brother Wesley left for California at the start of the week to spend the winter there. Byron Orton visited Parowan briefly. Mrs. Pati Sharp hosted a picture show party and banquet hosted by the F A N Club. Elite Cafe prepared the banquet. Albert Benson left for Nevada to work on a new road. Jos A Warren and wife moved from their farm to his mother's residence for the winter. The editor recalls venison gifts from readers, including PF A Clark and Clayton Mitchell. State Road Engineering's Nnowlton, Federal Bureau of Roads' Young, and bridge engineer Mr Pearson visited to inspect sites for a proposed road between here and Winn Hellow.
State Road Engineering official in Parowan reports slight changes to the Federal Aid project between Parowan and the summit beyond Win Hollow. Route will pass below the two mounds then above Summit and Winns, with no changes west of the mounds. Subscriptions and local visits noted include George Ence sending a $5 check and visits by Senator David Hirschi and others, plus Halloween party at Irene Mortensen’s.
Utah Agricultural College president E G Peterson and attorney R L Judd led talks at the B A C in Cedar City visiting departments and chapel exercises. The visit featured remarks on growth and collegiate atmosphere, with a faculty meeting and a social with railroad executives as guests. A student body meeting sworn in new officers and plans for improvements and contests were outlined, followed by local stray animal notices and an auction reminder for November 10.
A feverish political campaign heats Parowan High School with two rival tickets Climbers and Boosters contesting Friday elections. Boosters rally Thursday promising more great events. Nominees span chief commissioner to dramatics and athletics, with notable staff like Mr Gstler and returnee Mr Clair Hulet shaping school activities.
Seven new civil actions filed in the District Court over the past five weeks include Davenport vs Esplin to quiet land title, Johnson vs Dahle and Dahle, Roper vs Stephenson, Douglas and Dresser vs Corry Woodbury et al, Green vs Haight, Barton vs Bettridge as Justice of the Peace, and Iron Commercial and Savings Bank vs Geo. N. Lewis and Irene Lewis.

The animal corral 6 November 1923 at 2 o'clock pm.
A Monticello note from L. J. Adamsa attaches a $2 check to renew a yearly subscription and horitably wishes for a fry from a five point buck he recently harvested. The message reflects light local humor and a subscription renewal.

Miss Mary Williamson left for Milford after a week with her mother. John S. Barton and family will soon move to California for the winter. Aunt Mary Barton is seriously ill and not expected to recover due to advanced age, with her children at her bedside.
Mr Earl Clark and Miss Hazel Clark visited Parowan last week, the first return to their hometown in years. Earl recently left the army and has property interests near Kanab, Hazel has lived in Los Angeles about fifteen years. They were joined by Miss Iva Knell of Cedar City, and Frank Armstrong of Enoch also stopped in Parowan at week’s end.
