Parowan Farmers of America plans show of support as Brown and Benson join Parowan High seniors selected to represent Utah at the national event in Missouri. The group aims to raise funds through a raffle to finance travel and activities, inviting community support for the convention effort.
William H. Lyman, a resident of the community, has been in critical condition for the past two or three days with a ailment. Late night reports indicate he is resting a little easier after previously being unable.
Mr and Mrs Crawford hosted a dinner on October 1 to honor the wedding anniversary of their parents Carl L Crawford and Merle Crawford. Guests included Vilate Joseph Renner of Parowan Dalley families and Cedar City visitors Dan Crawford and families after a trip to tia.
Joe Stubbs bagged a six point, 220 pound deer on Mammoth east of Brianhead on opening day. Ralph Orten tracked a 235 pound five point buck in Horse Valley. Howard Ward shot an eight pointer under a canyon ledge on Monday. Game Warden S. M. Clark notes solid hunting, with most success from higher elevations, while a few locals near P Hill also took bucks on a warm Saturday morning.
A Relief Society convention for Parowan Beaver and Cedar Stakes is set for Thursday October 28 with Cedar Stake as hostesses. All meetings occur at Cedar City 2nd Ward Chapel. Details include morning sessions for Stake Board members ward officers and leaders and a noon lunch. Mrs Josie B Bay and Mrs Alberta H Christensen of the General Relief Society Board will attend all sessions.
Rex C Ward of Salt Lake City joins the deer hunting crowds in Parowan as Jay Benson and families from Salt Lake City journey to the area. Provo visitors J C Hulet and family spend the opening weekend. Fred Lewis also hunts locally. Adams family and relatives from California Bay area hunt three days then return. Ellen Halterman heads to Japan China cruise. local funerals and birthdays mark the week.

Billy Harris of the U S Navy is visiting here for a few days with his parents Mr and Mrs Claude Harris.
Mrs. Carl Crawford spent three days recently visiting with her daughter Mrs. Leona Halton in Salt Lake City.
Three U S A C Logan students Adrian Dalton Shirl Evans and Paul Warby took time from studies to hunt in the old hunting grounds. They returned north on Wednesday morning with their kills.

A Saturday evening gathering at Mrs Ardice Williamson’s home became an annual girls’ night event as men hunted deer. Out of town guests joined locals including Blaine Roundy and family from California visiting Betsy Boardman in Orleanes. Ward Robb and Jim Robb families also spent time in town last week.
Mr and Mrs Joseph Lister hosted their son Jesse and his wife for a visit. Mrs Lister recently injured her leg in a fall on an old stump and a large piece of wood penetrated her calf. She remains under a doctor's care.
Mrs Nora Barton travels to Murray for a several week visit with her daughter Mrs Gwen Malone. Myron Abbott narrowly escaped serious injury while deer hunting last Sunday as his horse reared, threw him, and struck his head and shoulder. He was hospitalized for X rays but suffered no broken bones and is recovering satisfactorily.
Cecil Barton purchases the former Hall corner on Main Street with plans to build a home. This transaction marks development for the block as local records note the property transfer and future construction proposal.
Misses Yvonne Anderson Carol Abbott and Anna Robinson came from Logan to spend the weekend with their families. They traveled with Cedar City friends for the deer hunt. On Friday evening of last week teenage girls gathered at Mrs Idella Robinsons home to sew quilt blocks for their Welfare Project. About twenty girls and three ladies attended the event.
A family gathering took place at the home of Mr and Mrs Orson Talbot. Among attendees were Mrs Gertrude Lister visiting from Salt Lake City and her sisters Mrs Mary Goddard of Cedar City and Mrs Martha.
Eleven year old Billy Evans was wounded in the upper arm by a stray 22 caliber bullet while playing at his grandparents home on South Main, Parowan. Ex rays showed the bone barely grazed. investigators said the shot likely came from the south but the source was not confirmed. Authorities warned residents to handle firearms cautiously near towns.
Mrs. Shirley Mercer and her children Mr and Mrs John Dalten and Mrs Dorothye Adama and baby plan to depart for California Sunday. Dot and baby will join Hardison in Los Angeles to live for a time. The Daltons will visit Norma and James Hammell in Van Nuys. Shirley and children will meet Lieut Col James A Mercer in San Francisco as he arrives from the U S Army in Japan aboard the Andrew Miller. The Mercer family will spend part of the leave in Parowan before Texas visit with kin.
Newcomers Mr and Mrs LeRay Gilger welcomed a 4 lb 14 oz daughter Pavia Ann born October at County Hospital. Kenyon Robinson and Norma Benson became parents to a 714 lb boy early Monday morning. Emma Rasmussen and Howard Rasmussen celebrated a girl born October 13. Norman Mortensen and wife welcomed a son on their wedding anniversary October 19. grandparents Bart and Mortensen noted as their city family.
Gale of Beaver gathered with locals for a short social visit, sharing friendly chatter and a warm welcome during the gathering.
The deer hunting season drew many to Paragonah weekend as hunters arrived from Cedar City Nephi and other areas while women visited relatives. Mr and Mrs W T Davenport hosted guests including Cal Smith family and Kay Hansen and children. Mrs Davenport’s sister Mrs Mar attended.
Gold Star Mothers Tea moved from Friday to Saturday at 2 30 p m in West Ward Relief Society rooms. All Gold Star Mothers and mothers of World War I veterans plus auxiliary members invited. Programs include patriotic solos, readings, missionary recounting, and piano medleys by local performers.
The East Ward M Men and Gleaners host a fireside Sunday at 8 00 p m at the home of Mr and Mrs Jesse Guyman Coach Ray Wath ere will present an interesting lesson All M Men and Gleaners urged to attend.
