Parowan Native Arthur Evans Dies After Illness
Arthur Evans life long Parowan resident died Wednesday morning after a brief illness. He was born in Parowan to Jenkin A Norris Evans and Sadie Barney. Survived by three children Alma Evans Parowan Mae Evans Simkins Nevada and three sisters Celia Se wan Sarah A Zabriskie and E Chipman of Salt Lake City. Services in Ward L D Chapel at 2 pm today, in family plot at the local cemetery.

Alton Merrill Opens Parowan Photo Studio
Alton Merrill, a Seminary teacher, will operate a part time Photo Studio in Parowan on the upper floor of the Seminary home during the building shortage. He has experience from Merrill Photo in Provo 1933 to 1936 and recently completed six weeks of training at Brigham Young University under Joseph Bael. The studio will serve private homes or the studio and aims to enhance local newspaper photography with future features of portraits and local happenings.

Dalton Assigned to Important Post at Orly Field Paris
Lieut. Donald A Dalton from Parowan Utah has been assigned to the Orly Terminal of the European Air Transport Service in Paris as Personal Affairs Officer. He served in the Army since 1942 with a prior posting in China from 1944 to 1945. Dalton is survived by his wife Cuella Sherratt Dalton, two children, and his parents in Parowan.

Iron County Exibit Earns Second at State Fair
Mr and Mrs Orland Adams welcome a baby boy born October 7. Winston Orton, recently with a theater troupe, returned to town early this week. Tron County exhibit at the Utah State Fair placed second in its class earning a Silver Loving Cup. Dolph Andrus arranged the display of ore minerals wool and agricultural products. Committees led by J Howard Maughan L N Marsden and K L Jones, with J M Foster supervising ore and Andrus arranging. Plans for a larger space next year and recommendations to County Commissioners for a bigger exhibit were discussed.

Gurr Family Reunion Marks Eleven Years Apart
Mr and Mrs Peter H Gurr hosted a reunion at their home on September 24. The gathering brought together nine children and eighteen grandchildren for the first time in eleven years. A banquet for 35 featured group photos, canyon tours, and mountain views. Three children served in the mission field abroad, two in Germany and Anna in Canada. Four sons served in the recent war and grandson Lloyd Guyman served eighteen months in the Navy.

Funeral held Saturday for Florente J Hermansen
Funeral services were held in Spring City Chapel for Mrs Florente J Hermansen on Saturday October 5 1948 with Spring City choir providing music. Talks were given by Arthur Joseph Bishop Jesse Guyman Jean Hendrickson and the Spring City Ward bishop and former Stake President. Burial followed at Ephraim Park Cemetery. The Hermansen family moved here eight years ago when Joseph Hermansen worked as a miller. Two sons LaVare and Marlen served in World War II. Health concerns prompted a move to lower altitude. death attributed to heart trouble and quick pneumonia.
