Partial Tax Payments Allowed Under Utah Ruling
The Utah Tax Commission permits taxpayers to make up to three partial payments on taxes before delinquency to reduce penalties and interest. If only part is paid, the penalty applies to the unpaid balance and interest accrues on that amount. Extensions beyond delinquency are not granted, and properties go to sale for unpaid taxes. Citizens may request a twenty day extension by petition to county commissioners, delaying delinquency to December 20.
