The trip by Topham and Mia Mary L. turned out longer and more extensive than first reported. After visiting Dr. B. Orton in Springville they traveled southeast to meet relatives in the San Juan region and view scenic points. They crossed the Colorado River Bridge near Moab and made Monti Je their headquarters with Ence Bayles Butt’s family. Parowan High School reported a dramatic week with a first league football win over Cedar City by 24 to 0, the first time since five years. The Freshmen initiation returned with the annual, colorful ceremony, while the Wing club elected officers Bessie Ann Dobrusky View, Jo Anne Mitchell, LaWana Mickelson, and Karla Hulet, planning initiations for 7th, 10th, and 12th grades. The Home Ec and Ag club hosted a fine dance, with decorations and donuts contributing to an enjoyable evening.

At a Monday afternoon meeting in the Elementary School Building the Grade School Teachers and PTA officers outlined coming year goals. Mia Augusta Adams, PTA president, announced membership and magazine subscription drives and a 25 cent per parent dues with a separate fathers attendance roll. Public Health Nurse Alice Barton described the school health program including weighing and measuring children, tracking growth, eye exams, and parent cooperation for proper physical examinations. Hay Stack Destroyed By Fire Monday
A noon Monday fire apparently started by sun rays through a jug of water burned a grass hay stack owned by Mr and Mrs Joe Matheson and damaged a nearby load of baled alfalfa. Local fire department actions prevented further damage to corrals and outbuildings nearby.

Family Of Lt. Col. James Mercer Sails For Japan
Mrs. Shir ley Dalton Mercer and her three children with their car traveled to Seattle to join Capt. Sam Humphrys family. They boarded a ship bound for Yokohama to join Lieut. Col. James A. Mercer who serves with the U S Army of Occupation. The plan is for the family to stay in Japan at least another year. Mr. Dalton returned home from Salt Lake City by plane.
