Paragonah residents attended a Thanksgiving dance at the community hall with Mr and Mrs Don McConkie and others. News notes record weddings in St George and Paragonah with Glenna Topham and Lyman Dodger among the couple, and a Paragonah orchestra program plus a town dance.
Bank payments doubled from 12,250 to 23,760 by Wednesday evening per Ivan Decker Sec Treas of the bank committee. The committee reminds cash stockholders unable to attend the first stockholders meeting to promptly arrange a written proxy so they can be represented and participate in voting.
The C of C meeting is moved from Monday to Wednesday at 8 00 PM due to the play Dear Ruth. It will be held at Taylors Cafe and all interested parties are invited to attend.
More than 400 delegates from 36 Utah Idaho Wyoming and Nevada junior colleges and high schools attended BYU’s 11th Inter mountain Journalism Conference on November 23. Key talks covered careers in advertising and weekly newspapers as well as war reporting on Bikini Atoll tests with BYU officials coordinating exhibits and demonstrations. Preston Mitchell Parowan High School led student representation.

Walter Robb returns from California where he worked recently and Clark L Orton furnished the Stapley home last week.

Mra Adalinds Thornton celebrated at home on her 7th birthday with 25 ladies, gifts and refreshments. The couple, My. and Mrs. William U Thornton of Parowan, marked 59 years of marriage on November 27, year, having fourteen children and a large clan across Utah and Nevada.
The East Ward Beehive Guardian Class presents The Pioneer's Christmas on Tuesday night December 3 in the East Ward Chapel directed by Jean Hendrickson with Betty Whitney and Margaret Adams leading. A Christmas pageant and party follow later in December with North and West Ward participation.

Two turkeys plus cakes and pies were auctioned. The basketball team lost 17 13 to Panquitch. School closed for Thanksgiving holidays starting Thursday.

A C Comedy Drama will stage Dear Ruth at the High School Auditorium Monday at 8 PM. The play, popular in Cedar City Delta and Beaver, features Nellie Matheson and David Arieson in leading roles. Reserve seats go on sale Monday morning at the high school office. admission is 75 cents for adults and 25 cents for students with cards.
Callen Robinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Robinson, was selected Centennial Queen to represent Utah during 1947. Gus P. Backman led the Utah Centennial contest by the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Aides named are Marie Burnett of Salt Lake City and Mary Louise Gardner of Spanish Fork. Utah County took first and third in the three placements. The queen previously held titles at Covered Way Days in 1141 and was a Freshman Queen at the University of Utah, recently named Utah Celery Queen. She will ride as guest of honor in the Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena on January 1.
The city clerk recorded a marriage license for Albert Stevens and Dora Holt, with details missing. The groom is the son of Edmund and (unnamed) Stevens, and the bride is the daughter of H. D. Holt of Enterprise. The Times extends sincere wishes for their happiness. Thanksgiving visitors Olive Caste Alys Adams and Iona Pendleton are noted, with Pendleton at home after an appendicitis operation. Births are reported for baby boys born to Mr. and Mrs. W. E.
