Nominees for the Iron County School District boards in districts One Three and Six were filed with the Clerk for ballot placement. In District One L J Adams J Clayton Mitchell and John W Bently contend, with Mitchell backed by the Republican primary. District Three lists S J Foster Kamen L Jones Arthur R Fife and Wm H Grimshaw. District Six features B C Knell and H E Harrison. Hospital Board nominees not fully listed but D A Matheson was the primary selection. Election set for December 1.

Merton Richards to Be Married in Salt Lake Temple

Mrs. Clarence Richards and Mrs. Sarah Whitney will travel to Salt Lake City for the wedding of Merton Richards and Miss Alice Taylor at the Salt Lake Temple on Wednesday November 24. Richards is the only child of the Richards couple and formerly lived here. The Taylors are little known locally. Also noted are ongoing diphtheria cases with several new infections reported this week.

Iron County 1926 Fair Committee Final Report

Iron County fair committee submits its 1925 26 year report to the Board of County Commissioners. It notes a $96.10 balance and expenses for livestock and state fair exhibits, plus plans for the 1927 display and continued support for Rambouillet sheep.

Adrian Adams Wins Pymm Medal at Armistice Day Oratorical

Adrian Adams Junior of the P B S won the Pymm Armistice Day Oratorical Medal with the speech The Armistice and Our Obligation. Other contestants named were Carol Adams Nelda Ward Orey Heap Broncon Adams and Jean Matheson. Judges included Irvin Nowal Supt N J Bartow and Mrs M A Gudmansen. Music came from the High School Music department. Fedora Stevens returns from Antimony Utah after visiting relatives Edward and Mr Davis and family attended.

Proclamation by Coolidge Sets Thanksgiving Day

President Calvin Coolidge proclaims Thursday November 25 as a day of general Thanksgiving and prayer. The proclamation notes national prosperity, calls for charity toward the less fortunate, and urges devotion and guidance from the Almighty. Arthur Joseph, manager of Parowan Mercantile Co., returned with a new freight truck after several days in Salt Lake City.

Womens Clubs Hold Convention In Utah District

The Southern district of the State Federation of Womens Clubs met at the Hotel Fl Escalante on Saturday November 13 with ninety to one hundred women from seven affiliated clubs. Mrs Evelyn P Webster retiring president presided and Mrs C E Maw Utah Federation president spoke on club work and its meaning for women.

Yankee Meadow Reservoir Nears Completion

One of the area’s largest engineering feats, the Yankee Meadow reservoir, is nearing completion. Engineer Joseph E. Richards of Salt Lake City led the project with work starting Sept. 15 and a completion target around December 1. The reservoir is estimated to hold 700 to 806 acre feet of water, with the basin currently averaging six feet deep.

Education Week Observed In Town Parade

The town marked American Education Week with a parade on Thursday November 11. The local school joined national efforts for better education and facilities while displaying a banner for the best parade appearance. The second grade led by Miss Mary Adams won the elementary banner and the seniors won the high school prize. About 563 people watched the event.
