County Red Cross leaders launch a new drive led by Fred A. Lewis to begin Monday morning in Palawan. Citizens urged to join, with emphasis on disaster relief and war service veterans programs and other humanitarian services provided by the organization.
Farm Debt Adjustment Supervisor D. Wadlay urges creditors to cooperate with state FDA Committees to resolve farm debt and avoid foreclosures. He warns creditors of prioritizing first mortgages and secondary claims, urging negotiated agreements to ease debtors’ burdens. Wadlay will speak at a County FDA Committee meeting on Friday November 16 at 9 30 a m in the Southern Utah area. County committee members include W J Jouen Parley E Anderson and James C Robinson.
A schedule change at George Temple shifts start to the first week of December. All weekday sessions are dropped and Saturday afternoon and evening sessions move to 7 p.m. both slots. Oscar Wiltsey and two children depart Thursday for Salt Lake City to visit for a couple weeks before heading to California for the winter, with Mrs Wiltsey joining him later.
Change in church authorities attendance for the quarterly Patowan Stake conference this Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Reed Emo Bes nion and Hark B. Lee of the Church Security Committee will attend the main sessions. ten Saturday meetings at 2 and 7 3202 p m and Sunday sessions listed. Not public meetings. Bishoprics of two local wards request attendance of those able to attend the conference.
The regent campaign spurred vehement talk in Parowan and Cedar City about relocating the county seat. Citizens allege intimidation and misrepresentation as the drive fuels distrust, with calls to end friction and restore neighborly relations between the communities.
Mrs. Georgian B. Mitchell was named president of the local Parent-Teachers Association for the coming year at the first meeting held Thursday evening in the school auditorium. Maurice Jones was named vice president and Huldah M. Rulet became secretary treasurer. Braet Stones, Jesh Guymon, Ray D. Harper and others were named to the board. The meeting included a final program by faculty members featuring group singing, talks by the high and grade school principals, and performances by Miss Lae Ela Anderton and a short player "Americanem."
Parowan announces a plan to seed the public square with grass to beautify the block. The council asks residents to deny interference and avoid creating trails that would damage the area. Wet conditions may leave holes and muddy paths. clay in the ground requires cooperation from every resident to help the project succeed.
Lowell M. Adame son of Mrs Thomas D Adame of this city married Miss Raymong Edwards daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm T Edwards of Cedar City in a ceremony at his home Wednesday night Bishop T Wendell Bayles performed the rite with friends and relatives present. Doward Dontley faces charges after using crude to gain access at work this week resulting in his lens being chopped.
The Parowan Exchange club meeting opposes the State Game Department plan to remove excess deer west of town. A motion instructs Rb Fenton to warn the Dead board, while a plan to assign wardens to remove about eighty deer and turn them to the State Relief Administration draws mixed reactions among club members.
Inia Tayles announces a West Wank Med 4A class studying the Pearl Of Great Price and related theology. Adults invite participation in Tuesday discussions led by Mr Ferber at Mutuel, with planning for Christmas presents. Mrs Dot Orom hosts at her home as twelve members meet and dinner is served by Mr Wikkie and Mica Eva Green. Salt Lake Gay joins the family after an earlier absence.
The county faces tax details and deadlines as voters decide on a removal question. The measure failed by about fifty votes, with extensive discussion of tax penalties and delinquency dates. Local officials note the margin was narrow and will revisit the issue in future elections.
A long town statement from Mayor A C Hatch thanks Parowan residents Cedar City and county allies for campaign support of a county beat retention effort. He cites Wilfcat Day and Warner Machel, lauds editorials, urges continued progress, and invites more unity to boost Parowan Valley development.
