Impressive funeral services were conducted in Parowan for Alice Orton Bolton a Parowan native who died in a North Holly California hospital after a chronic heart ailment. The service included invocations readings and musical numbers by a mixed quartet with speakers recounting her life. Burial followed at the cemetery with bearers listed and a singing of In the Land Thou Gently Home. Bolton born November 23 1902 in Parowan to Nephi and Alice Ben Orton was reared by relatives after her mother died.

Iron County Board Approves Parowan High Improvements
The Iron County Board of Education approves a $60,000 project at Parowan High School to add 39 feet of gym floor and extend the mechanical arts shop. The plan expands the gym for spectator areas and enlarges the shop for auto mechanics, woodwork, ceramics, and a projection room. Construction starts when the gym becomes available in spring, with occupancy planned for next fall.

Carl L Rasmussen seaman apprentice USN of Parowan serves on the submarine USS Redfish as part of the joint Army Navy exercise Operation Mik i under Rear Admiral Colclough defending Hawaii. The Redfish commissioned in 1944 completed two WWII patrols and will rejoin after ten days recreation before returning to San Diego. Carl is the son of Mr and Mrs Clayton Rasmussen.
