County Assessor's Son Missing in Action in Italy
Lt. Fenton M. Dalley 25 of Cedar City, son of County Assessor and Mrs. Hillman Dalley, has been missing in action over Italy since April 14. He piloted a Mitchell bomber, served as a radio technician, and joined the Utah National Guard in 1941 before transferring to the Air Corps. He left for Europe January 26, 1944, after commissioning at La Junta Field on March 16, 1943, and made numerous flights over enemy territory prior to the final mission.

The BAC awards committee named recipients at the May 13 assembly. Acting student body officers include Alice Roberts, Morgan White, Virginia Beasley, and Evaleen Hulet. William A Evans Dies in Salt Lake Hospital
William A Evans an 81 year old Parowan farmer and longtime cattleman died in a Salt Lake hospital after a ten day stay. Funeral services set for Saturday May 20 at 3 p m at the Parewan West ward chapel. Evans served as Iron County commissioner and Parowan city councilman and leaves seven children twenty three grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was born April 14 1863 in Parowan and spent winters in Southern California caring for livestock. He married Alice Lenora Holyoak in 1887 and after her death in 1910 he married Avis A Clark who preceded him in death. He is survived by a large extended family and several siblings.

Paratroopers Survive Fire On B 17 Mission Near Nebraska
Rulon Paramore a gunner on a B 17 bailed out when the aircraft caught fire about 75 miles from Sioux City Iowa. He and ten crew members parachuted to safety with minor injuries. The ship circled for four hours before crashing about 100 miles from the bailout point. The landing zone was near Belden and Wayne Nebraska. Paramore now rests in a hospital for leg treatment.

Services Held for Aged Japanese Lady Miyake
Funeral services were conducted in East ward chapel for Mrs. Yicki Miyake 64 who died Sunday night at Iron County Hospital after a long illness. Born in Japan she lived in Fresno before moving here last summer with her family. Survived by husband M Miyake four children George Miyake Grace Kuriyama Pauline Takata and Joe Takeda and four grandchildren. Rev Kumata Ogden Utah officiated with East and Westward choirs. Telegrams of sympathy were read and burial followed by cremation in Salt Lake City.
