Elder DeMille to Join Southern States Mission
Elder Liggd DeMille of the First Ward prepares to enter the LUIS mission home in Salt Lake City Wednesday before departing for the Southern States Mission. A testimonial and social in his honor will be held Friday at 8 p.m. in the ward chapel. DeMille, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin DeMille of the City, has served in the 214th field artillery battalion in Korea and Europe. He has degrees from BCAC Cedar City Brigham Young University and USC, and is married with three sons. He will report to Mission Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia.

Parley Jensen Killed in Nevada Car Crash
Parley Lorenzo Jensen sixty five of Parowan died in a late Tuesday night crash near Ruth Nevada. Solomon Anderson twenty seven also died. The two were in a 1940 coupe that overturned after missing a turn on the Ruth road. Jensen, born in Parowan in 1887, had lived in Nevada ten years and worked at the Ruth copper pit. Funeral services are set for Saturday at 2 p.m. in Parowan Third Ward Chapel with burial in Parowan City Cemetery.

Two Parowan High Envoys Selected for Girls State
Two Parowan High School seniors were chosen as envoys to attend Girls State at Utah State Agricultural College in Logan from June 21 to 28. Maxine Rasmussen, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, and Marie Adams, sponsored by the Parowan Literary Club, were selected for leadership, scholarship, and talent. Travel and living expenses will be borne by the sponsoring groups. Rasmussen is active in dramatics, band, cheerleading, and 4-H. Adams served as student body vice president and excels in piano and singing, with extensive 4-H leadership and sewing honors. Both maintain high academic averages and strong leadership qualities.
