Republicans Fire Election Candidacy At County Convention

Republican aspirants for county offices and state seats declared their candidacy at the county convention. Several nominees and incumbents filed declarations for sheriff, state representative, auditor, treasurer, clerk, and other posts. The primary on September 5 will determine the final nominees leading to the November election.

Church Doings at St Ward Aners to D Shea Rite

The East Ward Gleaner Girls prepare for the Binding of the Shea ceremony marking a milestone for the Gleaner class now permitted after chapel remodeling. Friends are invited to witness the event at the Dim Thursday service. Baptismal services are set for Saturday at 6 pm in the St Ward Chapel with Bishop Karl Mitchell announcing the program and parental invitations.

New Attendance Record Set at Parowan Stake Conference

About eight hundred attendees filled the Parowan Stake Sunday morning session, a stake record and about 3 percent of the stake population. The East Ward Chapel, recently remodeled, featured new curtains, tiles, carpet, paint, acoustics, and a revitalized ceiling. President W Clair Rowley opened with a talk on Loyalty and Repentance, as music and remarks by stake church leaders and youths accompanied the service. An evening MIA program followed at Paragonah Ward Chapel under stake MIA officers.

Paragonah Couple Celebrate 65th Anniversary

Paragonah's Thomas and Mrs Robinson, aged 86 and 84, marked their 65th wedding anniversary on April 30. Family gathering at Samuel Abbott's home featured slides by Lee Spencer, Aunt Susie baking the cake, and notes of self-sufficient aging with their two children, eleven grandchildren, and eighteen great grandchildren.

Parowan committee outlines plans for 100th anniversary

A Parowan City meeting will organize a general committee to plan Parowan and Provo County centennial celebrations for 1951. Mayor E Ray Lyman leads the group with representatives from school, church, civic clubs and pioneers groups. A chairman will be chosen, and events will span 1951 starting January 13.

Kent and Marcella Tullis Mitchell welcome a baby girl born Wednesday at the County Hospital. Four year old Lana eagerly claimed the sister, with grandparents Mr and Mrs W Scot Mitchell and Mrs Hilda Tullis of Parowan.
