Glee Concert Pleases Larenauienes Groups Presented
Brig ham Young University Glee Club performed at the high school auditorium with about thirty voices directed by Dr. Franklin Madsen and Florence Jepperson Madsen. The program included mixed and women’s sections plus comic readings and numbers. Professor Ormon Weight announced Parowan High School groups for a Regional Music Festival at Beaver and listed participants across bands, choirs, quartets, and solos. Funeral services were held Sunday for Thomas Haycock, 57, at the East Ward chapel after a natural causes death near Panguitch. The service featured multiple choirs, solos, and tributes, with survivors including his wife Betsy and eight grandchildren.

Dry farm experiment makes good showing in northeast city
Reports describe S A Halterman W Clair Rowley and others advancing dry land farming near the city. Demonstrations include heavy dry land wheat stands, seed stock potatoes and plans to plant more wheat with reduced seed per acre, hoping for moisture conservation without irrigation. White Rose seed potatoes received from Oregon
J M Palmer secretary of the Southwestern Utah Potato Growers Association reports a carload of foundation White Rose certified seed potatoes arrived this week for county growers. The seed stock originated in Troutdale Oregon and was grown by Mr M B McKay, formerly Oregon Experiment Station potato disease chief. Five additional carloads of local certified White Rose seed will be planted this year, with planting to begin about the 11th of June and continue to the first week of July.

West Ward Primary Presents Operetta The Land of Happy Hearts
An operetta by West Ward Primary titled The Land of Happy Hearts was staged last Friday in the Recreation Hall. One hundred thirty children performed in costumes for a large audience as ward association officers thanked patrons for cooperation. Mr and Mrs Al Dobrusie art family left Wednesday for Provo to visit relatives and friends until Sunday.
Parowan Seminary TG Graduates First Class
The Parowan Seminary will hold its first graduation exercises in the West Ward chapel on Sunday evening May 14. About twenty five students will graduate this year with diplomas presented by President William R. Palmer of the Parowan Stake. The public is invited to attend the ceremony.

Well Baby Conference Here May 10th and 12th
Infant and Well Baby conferences will be held at the West Ward Church on May 10 and 12. Sponsored by the division of the State Board of Health, the sessions will be led by Drs Reed W Farnsworth and J B Prestwich with Mrs Alice H Barton as nurse aide. All infants will receive a full exam, weigh and measure, and advice on feeding and growth. Immunizations for smallpox and diphtheria will be offered free on request.

Union Pacific Coming to Alladin Theater May 28
Union Pacific starring Doel McCrea and Barbara Stanwyck and filmed in Icust County will screen at the Alladin theatre around May 28 under manager W Scott Mitchell. Outdoor scenes were shot last fall with local help. Cedar City audiences report it as a good picture. City Park Project to Begin May 18 in Parowan
The WPA park project for the church block, turned over to Parowan City, will start May 18 per Mayor A C Hatch. The work includes remodels at the Old Rock Church, flagstone curbs and gutters, new steps, and repairs. twenty men to begin, with funds redirected to construct needed bridges. A cemetery beautification project approved by the WPA may start soon. landscaping around the City newer house finished, with repairs planned to the hydro electric line.

Farmers Plant 200 Acres of Pre-Season Potatoes
Approximately 20 acres will be planted in Tron County for harvest in late August and September. The crop will move directly from fields to market with no storage. Most will be grown under a powder contract for Higgins and Cassidy Produce Dealers of Los Angeles. Farmers will apply 300 pounds of ammonium sulfate to speed maturity and align harvest with the late August to September window.
