Parowan Lifespan Authority Lectures Highlight Family Life Expert

Parowan hosts Life Authority lectures in cooperation with the Parent Teacher Association high school faculty. Mrs. Matsner Gruenberg, acclaimed as America’s authority on family life, will present two talks on March 28 at Cedar City’s Cedar City High School auditorium. The afternoon program features “Newer Concepts of Discipline” with a subtitle “We Spoil Our Children.” The events, supported by Cedar City committee on Education, emphasize practical guidance drawn from Gruenberg’s books and work with the Child Study Association of America.

Lilly Burt Burial At Boulder City Nevada

The body of Lilly Barnson Burt, wife of the late Pitcanis fyer, died in Boulder City Nevada. She was brought to Poyowano for burial after a service in Boulder City. Survived by husband Burt and many Burt family members including children Shirley and Don Burt, and relatives from Salt Lake City and Los Angeles attended the interment.

Men Return From Service This Week In Local Area

Local families welcome multiple servicemen back from the Army and Navy this week. Pvt George M Rowley son of Mr and Mrs George S Rowley and husband of Audrey M Rowley has been discharged at Fort Douglas after nine months as a Clerk Typist at Camp Roberts California. Sergeant T Leonard Rowley, in service three years this month, also discharged at Fort Douglas and to be home Saturday. Milton H Hyatt USNR former Parowan resident released March 7 at Terminal Island now home in Cedar City with wife Trene Marsden. T5 Adrian E Dalton discharged from Army at Fort Lewis and en route home after service in France and Germany. Eugene Clark and William Stubbs returned home after Navy discharge. they served since June 1943 and 1944 respectively in the Pacific, with three weeks at home before final discharge.

The Utah Pion camp of the Dauhte vers postpones its monthly merit meeting set for last Monday. The Paragonah ward play caused the delay. the lesson on History of Utah and its Founders will be given by Mrs. Gurr at the Gurr home next Monday. Chamber Of Commerce To Hold Housing Meeting

The Chamber of Commerce will host a housing meeting Monday at 7 45 p m in the county courthouse courtroom. Parowan contractors Davis and Paulson, invited builders Mark Webster and Arthur Jones, and ex servicemen are urged to attend for details on a veterans housing project and possible eight to forty homes.

Program Announced for Relief Society Birthday Observance

Officers and members of both Par ewan ward Relief Society organizations will observe the birthday tomorrow in the Westward Relief Rooms and Recreation hall. A 1:30 p.m. dinner for all members and city married women precedes an afternoon program led by President Alice C. Mitchell, followed by a 9 p.m. dance with a six piece orchestra. A dinner music group will perform under June Decker. events include community singing, historical notes, school numbers, and readings. Transportation teams will pickup those unable to walk. attendees are asked to bring knife, fork, spoon and napkin.

County Fair Committees To Meet Next Wed Night

Iron County Fair General Committee and sub committees will meet next Wednesday evening in the county courthouse to elect sub chairmen and finalize plans for exhibits. A premium book from each department will be assembled for spring publication to inform farmers livestockmen gardeners and housewives about next fall’s show.

Young couple visit here after marriage in Casper Wyoming

Bishop W Leonard Evans leads the West ward choir urging all members to attend a 1 30 Sunday practice. Newell B Weight is named as possible director to revive the choir. County Commissioner Hugh L Adams recently had hernia surgery and is recovering at home, hoping to go out this weekend.

Parowan High juniors present a Make Believe Island prom in the school gym on Friday March 22. Under chairs Ruma Lyman and Gordon Halterman with Mary Lou Joseph and Thales Brown, they hired a twelve piece orchestra and plan a memorable promenade. Funeral Services Held For William W Pendleton

Funeral services were conducted at the Parowan West ward chapel for William W. Pendleton 88 a respected farmer and livestock raiser. Speakers included Durham Morris R L Fenton Barbara Adams and others with mixed and vocal musical selections. Out of town relatives attended and one family member recovered after a heart attack.

Couple Married Today in Temple Rites in Parowan Area

A marriage taking place today at the St George temple joins Vic Matheson and Miss Reva Robinson with Vic a Parowan native son and Reva from Paragonah. After the ceremony they plan a brief honeymoon through Nevada and perhaps California. Both are Parowan High School graduates active in sports. Vic served in the Philippines campaign and now works as a tank truck driver for Continental Oil. Also, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Mortensen welcomed a baby girl this week.
