Parowan American Legion Auxiliary elected officers for the coming year Sella Hallerman president Leminonst vice president N Benson second vice president lene Orton Lecy treasurer Ma Carthwright historian 48 Ory Sargent at arms lle Wars chaplain. New officers to be installed every September. The organization will display a heavy airtav which will be auctioned off during the Race Meet.
Word arrived of the death of Ira Watson formerly of Pitegmah now of St Anthony. funeral services set for June 21 at St Anthony. Messages mention Dalton and others visiting, with notes of local residents and ongoing community activities as preparations continue.
In Paragonah Ward on Sunday June 22, Bishop J. Leonard Topham and counselors Thomas A. Topham and Franklin A. Williams were released. Gilbert Robinson was sustained as Bishop with Victor R. Robinson and Thomas R. Abbott as 1st and 2nd counselors. The new bishopric brings varied church experience, including Sunday School leadership, mission service, and Navy duty.

Grace Elaine Guymon daughter of Bishop and Mrs Jess Guymon attended B Y U last winter and was one of four Utah Stake couples chosen for the M I A Centennial Dance at the University of Utah Stadium during the LDS Conference. Several hundred youths from stakes participated in the spectacular event. Guymon made a special trip from Parowan to take part.
Church news notes baptismal services set for Saturday in the East Ward Chapel. Parents with children to be baptized are asked to notice. Wards report Adamses released from the California mission June 25 and expected home soon after. Graduation exercises for Primary Guide and SeaGull classes completed with several names listed for diplomas. East Ward Primary Association hosted outgoing and new teachers at a Friday chili supper.
The Panthers 4-H Club held an organization meeting Monday evening June 23 at Hauneld Malyoak home. Officers named for the year include Steve Adams president Kenneth Topham vice president Raynor Kaninska secretary Willis Robinson treasurer Rodney Rowley reporter Jimmie Harris amusement director with Elwood Benson Arthur Goodnow and Alfay Orton as assistants. Mr Reland Holyoak agreed to be group reader. The group said the public will hear more about their constructive activities.

The C of C club faces a tough test as members accept a Legion challenge in a chaotic article describing a baseball game and military references. The text includes garbled phrases about discipline, rulebooks, and terminology, ending with a pledge by the club president to “take these birds apart.”
Superintendent Ianthus Wright announces a summer kindergarten for Marowan children entering school this fall. The class will operate in the Pride School building starting July 11 under Mrs. Fae N. Benson. Parents must accompany children for registration, bring birth certificates, and provide health data with a pre school exam. Eligibility requires birthday on or before October 6. 1947.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Richard Vernon McBride with Bishop J Leonard Topham presiding. The choir conducted by Anna Stones sang That Beautiful Land. Opening prayer by Thomas A Robinson. A letter from Mr and Mrs J S Hanks of Salt Lake was read by Helen Stone. Vocal duet Jesus Lover of My Soul performed by Myles Walker.
