Program Outlined For July Fourth Celebration

Plans for celebrating July Fourth in Purowan are under way led by David Richards, chairman of the general committee. The tentative program includes daybreak salute and flag raising with band, a parade of churches and businesses, a forenoon public meeting, afternoon children's events, horse races at 4 pm, and an evening dance. Committees cover hayride salute, flag-raising, parade, races, and dances, with committee heads listed. Time and place for some events remain undecided and next week’s issue will provide updates.

Whitney boy badly burned by acid in Cedar City

A local boy, Little Whitney, son of Mr and Mrs Marion Whitney, suffered severe chemical burns when a bottle of sulfuric acid was spilled on him in town. His parents were unaware of the chemical and delayed neutralizing the burn. he was later taken to Cedar City for treatment and is reportedly recovering well.

Final Estimates for Life Lind Submitted

City Council held a special meeting Thursday morning to review final life line estimates from engineer Boronsen for a hydro electric pipeline. The council approved deductions of 1500 for contract delays of 190 days and planned partial payments to contractor Charles Lyngly, with 691 held for damages and power costs to Southern Utah Power Co. Pending final acceptance by PWA, inspectors and approvals will determine remaining penalties and transfers to Lyngly.

Elder Crawford Writes From The South Seas

Elder Daniel B. Crawford of Isle City writes home about five months in New Zealand.
