Accil Bernarr Adams Seaman First Class and Miss Madilyn Lorraine Steele married in a quiet ceremony at Bishop Jess W. Guymon’s home on Wednesday evening. Adams, a Parowan High School 1943 graduate, has served in the Navy two years. Steele, from Long Beach California, works as a stenographer at Naval Drydocks. They plan to remain until Monday before returning to Seal Beach and resume duties. A reception was held at the Adams home with family members present.

Opening of 1945 Utah fishing season today
June 15 starts the general fishing season in Utah with fair weather forecast. Most state waters open while higher elevation streams remain closed. Heavy plantings hit southern lakes with Panguitch Lake Navajo Lake and Mammoth Creek favored for best fishing this year. Roads into canyons may still be rough. Cedar Mountain route to Navajo Lake is open and passable.

Cedar Cement Plant Changes Hands at Cedar City
Chester Jones purchased the Usemore Cement Products plant from Ezra C. Thompson and will operate it under the Southern Utah Brick and Cement Company. He plans to market products across southern Utah and Nevada as materials arrive. The Southern Utah Dairy Co milk handling plant also saw extensive repairs including new drains and a new floor in the cheese making area.

Milford Soldier Arthur M Peterson Dies on Okinawa
News from Milford Utah confirms PFC Arthur Magnus Peterson son of Edna Peterson died on Okinawa May 25 after three years in the 27th Infantry. Born 1928, he enlisted 1941, trained at Camp Roberts and Ford Ord, served in Pearl Harbor, Gilberts, Saipan, and Okinawa. Memorial services are set for Sunday June 24 at the East ward chapel.

Iron County Weed Committee met in Cedar City to discuss weed infestation rates. Agricultural Inspector Maxfield reported 80 percent of Cedar City lots harbor noxious weeds, mainly wild morning glory, with statewide infestations high.
