At a Wednesday regular meeting of the In- Day Council the Mayor named a three man general committee with Alma V as chairman and Charles F and Jean Hendrickson as members to plan for the nation s birthday events. The session also covered race track funding with American Legion input and plans to hire stalls and equipment, plus discussions on electric power, water rates, and cemetery logistics.

N C Benson Loses Battle With Rare Paralysis
Nat Benson a prominent Parowan shrepman died just before midnight last Saturday from Landry's paralysis after a 1 year 10 day fight. Funeral services were held in West ward chapel with Bishop W Leonard Evans officiating and many local relatives attending. Born November 17 1899 he was survived by a daughter and two brothers, with a sister living in this city.

Mr Weight Organizes Summer Band At Local School
Mr Weight announces a summer band at the high school to prepare for Duncing Weiidays and other events. Newell Weinheay leads a group of former Siento band members with 45 attending, practicing twice weekly on Monday and Thursday evenings for one hour. Iron County Centenary Committee Formed For 1947 Events
At the May 31 meeting of the Iron County Board of Commissioners Cedar City was named Wm R Palmer as chairman of the Iron County Centennial Celebration Committee. Other members and a separate clean up committee were named to prepare for Utah's birth day observance in 1947. A petition from New Harmony residents seeks annexation from Washington to Trone county. The clerk was instructed to file the petition and place the proposition on fall ballots.
