James Jimmie Mitch Ell arrived Monday from Clovis Air Base New Mexico on an 18 day furlough to spend time with his parents the Mitch ell s and relatives. Cpl Bob Matheson spent a 15 day furlough here with the Kenneth Mathesons. Lieut Daryl Halterman and Mrs Halterman have been visiting during the lieutenant's leave. Daryl a member of the US Army Air Corps just returned from Korea will leave for Lake Charles Louisiana to be a radar instructor after his furlough. His mother in law Mrs Louise Hodson accompanies them to Louisiana.

Tragedy strikes Parowan as a coast collision takes the lives of two prominent residents, a mother and her daughter. Beaver plans a four day twirlers clinic at Beaver High School with Mine Vanet Sorensen, lead majorette of the University of Utah marching band, to offer instruction for dr um majors and twirlers. The clinic runs June 23 to 26 with groupings by ability and demonstrations on June 26. Applicants are to report June 23 at 9:00 a.m. in full costume with katana. a deadline for applications is given as Wednesday.

Parowan couple wed as Fresno crash claims two Decker kin
Elaine Whitney wed LaMar Duke in a home ceremony on Friday June 6 with families and close friends present. Separately a Fresno collision killed Venice Decker and her daughter Marian Ann Decker while travel to Sequoia National Park. Parowan postmaster Ivan Decker survived. Venice Decker taught at Parowan High School and was active in church, Red Cross, PTA, and the Centennial committee. Marian was a student and musician. Funeral services set for Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Star Ward LDS Chapel with memorial funds urged for Parowan High School.
