District Court Set to Convene Here Next Tuesday

The district court in Beaver County is scheduled to convene next Tuesday with a June term anticipated. A list of jurors and marshals was drawn, naming Herman E. Former residents visit old home in June return trips

Mrs. Wm. J. Matheson and her son Alack visit from Duncan Arizona with relatives. Della Romney and her husband also travel from Provo. Ai and Mrs. H. C. Hice, once in Perowan, stop by Cedar City on business. Mr. M Rice’s health improves after a difficult period. Vivian B. Decker and spouse return after years away, with Decker teaching in Ogden last winter.

County Equalization Board Meets to Review Assessments

The County Commissioners act as a board of equalization on Monday, reporting mostly smooth assessments with few taxpayer complaints. Some increases were made on sheep values and a few decreases on improvements. Abatements up to ten dollars were granted to numerous residents including Mamie Orton, Lena Fentley, John Lowder, Sarah Connell, Ellen Thornton, and many others. The board adjourned to reconvene next Monday with the monthly commissioners meeting.

Festival draws crowds as June West Ward event nets funds

Special to the Tines reports the June West Ward festival ran Wednesday and Thursday in Ethon House Park. Attractions included Gipsy Fortune Teller, Bee Alive Girls candy trays, Sca Cream booth, and a lively auction. Children’s races and Gay Scouts demonstrations were praised, with a parade and a motion picture program topping off the enjoyable two days. Proceeds covered indebtedness.

Rambouillet Sheep Breeders set dates for fall show

Rambouillet Sheep Breeders Association plans a meeting to fix dates for the annual Rambouillet Show to be held in August, likely August 23 24 and 26, with discussion on advertising and staffing. Breeders failed to attend the adjourned session, leaving decisions for next meeting. West Ward 15 Considers Meeting House Offer

West Ward 15 faces a proposal from the L D 5 Church president to help bulking a meeting house. The offer would cover fifty percent of the cost if accepted soon, with plans and specs provided by the church architect at no charge.
