City Council Holds Special Meeting

City council met Wednesday night before Mayor Ivan Decher’s anticipated weeklong absence for duty at a distant mill. Actions included hiring extra water department help during high water, extending night lighting, purchasing a lawn mower for the library grounds, and a $10 appropriation for band music. Culvert work at Parley Jennenn’s corner and other culvert projects were referred to the streets and sidewalks committee for review and action.

Board of Equalization holds county tax review

Commissioners met as a Board of Equalization hearing taxpayer complaints on assessed values, noting about ten percent reductions in real estate. Most issues were resolved. adjournment set for Saturday with State Tax Commission to review matters.

Legion Meeting urged for ex servicemen in Parowan

Ex service men of Parowan Post No 26 are urged to attend a meeting at 8 10 p m Monday June 6 in the library basement. Sgt Clair Rowley will report from a service officers convention in Salt Lake City. The dancing pavilion and other matters will be discussed. The city council may appoint a Fourth of July committee at its next meeting.

A Parowan couple wed Thursday evening at the bride’s mother’s home with Bishop I. L. Adams officiating. Clair Lister, son of Mrs. Jus R. Lister and Mrs. Virginia Evans, daughter of Mrs. John W. Benson, are the newlyweds. The groom aided on his mother’s farm. the bride is a Parowan High School graduate active in school affairs. The Times offers congratulations.

Memorial Day Observed by Varowan Community

Varowan residents gathered with the American Legion to honor the departed. Morning visits to the cemetery included grave cleaning, plantings, and upkeep. Afternoon events at the ball grounds featured music, games, and a dance to close the day.

Snow Named Candidate for Panowan High School Principal
