Range rams from here were strong sellers and locals expect more sales in Texas. Parowan Receives Good Will Tour from Cedar City Chamber

The Cedar City Chamber of Commerce Good Will tour itinerary includes Parowan as the first stop of a four day swing through southwestern Utah. A group of 25 to 50 will meet locals for lunch Monday with plans to discuss regional resources and problems and promote cooperation. Local meetings will feature two to three residents sharing insights as the party visits Panguiten Kanab St George and New Castle.

Public utilities assessment in county exceeds 3.5 million dollars

County records show public utilities taxed on a valuation over 3.5 million with total assessments by the State Board of Equalization at 3,524,318 dollars. Railroads lead with 2,846,315 dollars, followed by car, power, telegraph, telephone, and express companies in separate allocations. Minersville Canyon Narrow Escape After Rocked Car Wreck

Mr George Bentley his son Robert his sister Zelma Huffaker and Ray Rawley narrowly escaped death when a cautious car was forced off the grade near Hanging Rock Minersville by a truck driver pushing for road space. The car hit rocks and wrecked occupants were seriously cut and bruised Mrs Huffaker required seven stitches. The truck driver’s identity not learned but Mr Murdock of Reaver conceeds his driver was to blame and offers to make right.

Parowan Fourth of July Celebration Receives High Praise

Parowan celebrated the Nation's birthday with a well ordered day. The parade featured thoughtfully built floats, first prize to the Relief society, and a second split between two Primary groups. An evening program drew crowds to dances and a Salt Lake City troupe provided music. Citizens praised the conduct and committees for their efforts.

School Board adopts budget for coming year

Following a public hearing last Saturday the School Board adopts the budget for the coming year. Taxpayers are assured the budget can be carried out without a special one mill levy this year. The Cedar City Junior high school addition and the New Cagilo building progress satisfactorily. Plans are cut off for the Farewan building with work expected to start early next year. Contracts were awarded to American Asphalt Co for roof repairs at Perowan and Paragonah and to Mr Stucks for concrete walks at the Cedar City Schools.

Local business groups plan front entrance improvements

The Patowan Auto Co. began work on a long decorative shade for the gasoline pumps and oil tanks at their garage entrance. The structure will span the front, serve as an ornament and convenience, and improve evening appearances. Farowan Mercantile Co. has installed a new electrically refrigerated display case for low temperature foods including lunch meats and butter for customer use.
