Snow Survey Shows Moisture Better Than Average
A snow survey conducted Friday January 26 by the Soil Conservation Service Irrigation Division Logos the Logan Research Office and local Forest Service and Soil Conservation Service offices found Webster Flat with 72.9 inches snow depth and 22.2 inches water while Cedar Breaks recorded 74 inches depth and 25.2 inches water Comparisons with last year and the normal water amounts on April 1 show higher moisture levels this season across the sampled sites with Webster Flat at 22.2 inches and Cedar Breaks at 25.2 inches water.

Edith Smith 15, granddaughter of Parowan residents, sustained skull fracture, broken shoulder and collar bone, and bruises when a car rolled over on Highway 1 east of Washington. Passenger driver Jerry Vincent 15 had minor injuries. A second car driven by Darwin Russell hit the Vincent vehicle, causing further injuries. Russell uninjured.

Robert Robinson Injured In Freak Mishap
Robert Robinson of Cedar City, son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Robinson, escaped serious injury after grabbing a live metal truck door at the Southern Utah Power Co Diesel station. The 2400 volt shock froze him to the door. Hugh Kearns freed him and he was treated at Iron County Hospital for a burned thumb and finger. An investigation found a recently installed two way radio antenna contacting a live high tension line.

Former Parowan Resident Buried At Fillmore
John W. Rogerson aged 70 longtime Fillmore resident and former Parowan mayoral figure died Saturday in Las Vegas of natural causes. Born April 20 1881 in Beaver he lived across Southern Utah and trained racehorses. Survived by widow Estella later married Teta Lamb seven children and several siblings. Funeral held Tuesday at 2 PM in Fillmore Second Ward Chapel.
