Mrs. Lilie F Retne White mother of Mus ivey E Dunton and a worker in the St George temple for nine years, was laid to rest in Paragonah cemetery after services at the Paragonah rd chapel. Bishop J Leonard Topham presided. talks by Wm P Irton and others and choir selections accompanied by Doyle Robinson. Interment followed in Wragonah cemetery. Born September 18 1869 in Wilson County Kansas. Survived by five brothers and one sister, one son of six daughters, thirty four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The Cedar City family learned Sgt Albertson born October 5, 1922 in Loa Wayne County was in action in France on January 4. He attended Richfield schools and Utah State Agricultural College at Logan in 1941 42. He joined the army December 1942 and trained at multiple bases before serving in the Pacific region. He is survived by his parents two sisters and other relatives in Utah.

Word reached Bess Ward Halt that her husband P F C Alma A Holt was seriously wounded in Belgium on January 4. Holt, 26, had been on the fighting front two to three months with an Infantry unit. His wife, their two small children, and his parents Mr and Mrs Joseph Holt, along with siblings, await further word. Occupation and exact unit not specified.

Prominent Cedar Woman Dies After Long Illness
Lury Selle Joseph Armstrong of Cedar City and Enoch died last Wednesday after nearly a year long illness. Born January 16 1888 at Adamsville Utah she was adopted by Mr and Mrs Joseph Armstrong after being found as an infant. She spent life in Enoch and Cedar City and served in Primary Sunday schools and Relief Society. Funeral held in Cedar First Ward chapel. Paragonah Soldier MIA in Belgium Since December
Cpl. Dewey A. Topham, 26, son of Mr and Mrs George A Topham of Paragonah Utah, has been missing in action in Belgium since December 17. He enlisted January 15 1942 and served in 2 Mechanized Cavalry Recon division with General Hodges First American Army. He trained in nineteen camps before going overseas in August 1944. He has three brothers Kenneth Fred and Waldo S Topham and two sisters Glenny and Elna, all of Paragonah.

Mrs. Arvilla Mortensen leads the local American Red Cross chapter in reporting a year of finished items for service members. Volunteers produced bath robes, bed jackets, field bags, hospital gear, slippers, sweaters, and extensive knitting including helmets and socks. A Parowan display at Champion Shoe Repair will showcase the work to local residents inviting more volunteers.

County clerk W Clair Rowley and Deputy County Assessor Wm J Gurr report Ed Southwick of the Utah State Tax Commission will visit Parowan next Tuesday Jan 30 at the County Courthouse from 9 am to issue license plates for vehicles in the back county. The service will save trips to Cedar City or Salt Lake City. Local residents urged to use the opportunity. The Gold and Green ball, sponsored by the two wards mutual improvement association, was a successful social despite bad weather. Dances followed the crowning of the ward queens Miss Elna Haltermann West ward and Miss Odesea Harris East ward, with Donna Jean Thornton and Eloise Dobrusky as attendants.
