Red Cross elects officers at Ira County meeting

Major Patrick H. Fenton son of Mr and Mrs R L Fenton Parowan has been processed for separation from the Army at Fort Douglas and is home on terminal leave visiting his family He served with an artillery regiment in General Patton's 3rd Army in the battle for France and Germany overseas since May 1944 Veil E Taylor Cox USNR son of Mr and Mrs Clifton Taylor of this city returned from Manus Island on the US Lauderdale to receive his discharge after weeks at home He landed in Seattle and arrived home last Saturday after more than 20 months in the Navy since May or June 1943 Eugene Clark son of Mrs Violet R Clark also returned from Manus Island on the same ship landing in Seattle He will be released when he reports back to Shoemaker He served on a Net Tender and in the Submarine patrol for almost two years in the Navy since spring 1943 January 10 T/5 George K Prothero son of Mr and Mrs Stanley Prothero Paragonah was discharged after 21 months in France and Germany with the 33rd Med Depot Co He entered July 20 1943 and before enlistment was a student at USAC Logan Sergeant Frank E Patten husband of Hildreth Benson Patten was released from the US Army at Fort Lewis Washington Jan 12 and returned home He has served several years and spent months since last summer in the Asiatic War theater Earlier he was stationed at Fort Douglas

County Fair Committee Approved by Iron County Board
Iron County Commissioners at a regular meeting approved a 1946 Iron County Fair committee. The list is led by Thales Brown as chairman with W. Clair Rowley as secretary treasurer and 14 other members from Parowan Cedar City and Paragonah. The first meeting is set for January 21 at 7 30 p m in Parowan courthouse.
