Plans are announced for Pioneer Day celebrations in the city marking its eighty fourth birthday. Sheepmen oppose forest permit cuts in Dixie region
Forest Supervisor Jas E B Gurrang and Ranger Frank Seaman told Cedar City area sheepmen the Dixie forest will face a twenty five percent reduction in permits above the protective limit of 369 head. The cut stems from overgrazed ranges, and permittees urged case by case reductions where warranted. The meeting also debated lowering the maximum rights from 2000 to 1200 head, a suggestion not accepted for current rights. Iron County Woolgrowers' Association annual meeting is set for Saturday night.
