Jimmie Hyatt Enlists In Air Force

Jimmie Hyatt Jr. son of Mr and Mrs Roy Myau of Parowan left New Year’s day after enlisting in the United States Air Force and reported at Lackland AFB San Antonio Texans. Hyatt a former Parowan High School basketball player left Cedar City with two youths from that city. Among Iron County men called for pre induction physicals are Albert Adama Jr Keith Benson Ronald DeMille Rodney Kaminaka and Hal Evans of Parowan and Albert Jones Elwin Talbot of Paragonah.

Funeral Services for Libbie Gogoff Held in Salt Lake

Funeral services for Elizabeth Libbie Benson Gogoff, a former Parowan resident, were held in Salt Lake City Eight Ward Chapel with remarks by Alfred Durham and Bishop Steiner. Burial followed in Salt Lake City Cemetery under Sunset Mortuary. Attending from Parowan were Mrs. Phil Benson, Neta Benson, Mrs. Barbara Burt, and Mr. and Mrs. Benson Haycock.

Funeral Services For Mrs Pendleton Friday

Funeral services for Eleanor Esplin Pendleton 69 wife of F Warren Pendleton of Parowan will be held Friday at 1 30 pm at the Parowan First Ward Church under Bishop Claude W Adams of the 2nd Ward She died Tuesday at 10 46 am in the Iron County Hospital after a lengthy illness Born March 7 1872 in Orderville she was educated in Kane County and at Utah State Agricultural College She and Mr Pendleton married June 1 1914 in the Logan L D S Temple They lived in Orderville Beaver and Cedar City before moving to Parowan in 1923 She served in L D S Church roles including secretary of her Ward and of the Parowan Stake Relief Society The couple served a winter 1947 48 mission in California Her son Brian was killed at Okinawa She is survived by her husband two brothers three sisters many half siblings and was active in church duties Friends may call at the family home in Parowan Friday from 10 am until the service Burial will be in Parowan City Cemetery under Jensen Mortuary direction.

Parowan Rams head to Fillmore to face Millard High in a decisive divisional match. Millard beat Hinckley 17 to 25 while Parowan fell to Delta Rabbit Five. locals expect a victory as Coach Jones says the team is fit and eager. Delta visits Beaver and Milford meets Hinckley at Hinckley. home league opener set for next Friday with a large crowd anticipated.

S M Clark To Again Head Firemen

S M Clark was reelected chief of the Parowan volunteer fire department as officers were chosen Monday night. Homer W Adams became assistant chief, Bryce Adams treasurer, Mert Mitchell secretary. Eugene Orton Howard Ward and Max Hendrickson named to arrange a social, with skating and toboggan party planned at the Winter Recreation Center and a steak supper to follow. Clair Hulet presided at the meeting in the County Court House.

Parowan to stage two classic farces with notable descendant cast

The Parowan entertainment features descendants of early Moncer actors in Slasher and Crasher and Box and Cox. Winston Orton directs and acts, with Harley and Warren A Fulton recreating famed roles. Miriam Moore Georgia J Meeks Bud Munford and van Decker also appear. Mrs Orton directs. Elaborate costumes and old English settings accompany scripta from Mormon emigrants. Mrs Green Heads Parowan Marching Mothers

Mrs Elmer Green was chosen chairman of Parowan Marching Mothers to map the town and organize committees for the March of Dimes drive. A house to house canvass by city mothers is planned, aiming to turn March of Dimes into March of Dollars in Parowan.

Centennial Fete Moves to June Weekend in Parowan

The three day Centennial observance shifts to Saturday and Sunday June 12 and 13 with Pioneer Day events as announced. Saturday features a public meeting in Recreation Hall, luncheon, old time dancing, and a grand ball with entertainment at 7 10 p.m. Activities are led by the Paulina and Elizabeth Campa division of Daughters of Utah Neighbors. A morning program includes Centennial Harmonivn Band, community singing, invocations, and school performances. A welcome by Mayor B Ray Lyman leads to a pioneer story and pantomime musicale. Free hot drinks are offered to attendees who bring lunch. proceeds fund kitchen renovations at Old Bork Church relic hall. The curtain for two old time plays is 7 15 p.m. Saturday, followed by a 9 p.m. dance in the recreation hall. Sunday features a Pioneer Musicale at 8 p.m. in the Parowan Third Ward Chapel. Parowan Men Due Home From Korea

Parowan servicemen Pvt Martin B Merrell MSgt Wilford Eugene Benson and M Sergeant Ralph M Halterman, longtime in Korea since January 1941 with the 213th, are slated to return to the United States on rotation after two military transports delayed by stormy weather.
