Grandson of Parowan Lady Killed in Accident
Six year old Steven Tanner of Salt Lake City died from injuries after a slow moving car backed from a parking lot at Brighton struck him. The boy, born Feb 5 1943 in Palo Alto California, was a Sherman school first grader. He is survived by parents Obert and Grace Tanner, siblings Gordon Joan Caroline and deceased brother Dean, and grandmother Mrs Luella R Adams of Parowan. City Marshall Ray H Adams, the grandmother’s brother, witnessed the funeral.

Parowan Literary Club Hosts New Year Dinner
The Parowan Literary Club and partners held its traditional New Year dinner last Friday at the Jesse Guymont home, a social event for over 30 years. The table featured a New Year baby doll in a top hat and four bells, with 30 guests seated by miniature dolls in New Year attire. The group continued the celebration after dinner.

Death by shooting for two young murderers in Parowan
Vern A Braasch and Melvin LeRoy Sullivan were sentenced to death for first degree murder in the October 22, 1949 Beaver service station holdup. Judge Will L Hoyt pronounced the sentence December 29 in Parowan after a three day trial. Their motion for a new trial was filed, and the case includes a change of venue from Beaver County. The defendants were taken to the Utah State Prison in Salt Lake City the next day.

Mrs Lena Benson underwent cataract surgery in L D S Hospital Salt Lake City on December 28 the operation was successful. On January 5 she moved to the home of her daughter Mrs Frank Patten in Springville. Joan and Blanche Renee Adams daughters of Mrs Augusta Adams of Provo spent part of the holidays in Parowan as guests of Beverly and Cyril Pendleton. Don Lyman stationed with Army Air Corps in Florida visited with his parents the BE Ray Lymans Dick Stevens home from Aberdeen Maryland where he is stationed with U S Army Dick Stevens son expects to sail for Germany in January. Seaman Don Kirkpatrick son of Martha Kirpatrick spend Christmas in Parowan returned to San Diego New Years Day. Eva Taylor left for Benjamin to live with the Taylor Parkinsons for the winter. Funeral Services Held For Betsy Boardman Monday
Funeral services for Betsy J. Boardman were held Monday at Ward Chapel after her death from a heart ailment in Iron County Hospital. The service featured choir, solos by Arthur Fretwell Silas Topham and Hazel Davenport, tributes by Victor Robinson Amenzo Topham and Bishop Gilbert Robinson, with pallbearers including grandson Kenyon Fretwell and Hyrum Boardman. Betsy Topham Boardman, born December 12 1880 in Paragonah, married William H. Boardman April 25 1907. they had five children. he died in 1927.
