Hales Brown who is a vocational store instructor at the high school was named Outstanding Young Man of the year at a Junior Chamber banquet. He is a Utah State Agricultural College graduate and has served as a Future Farmers of America instructor, and as Y M C A president in Parowan East Ward. The award honored his leadership with young men, farming activity, and community service including fair work and involvement with Southern Live Stock Association.

The two Parowan Wards report an overwhelming success for birthday pennies benefiting Primary Children's Hospital with about 80 percent more collected than last year. East Ward total $101.70 with $86.70 this month and $15.00 from Primary children. West Ward $97.94 plus $16.12 from children. If similar wards donate, a new hospital cost may be covered.

Parowan sheepman Joseph B Adams was rescued by a flying party after two weeks of cold and hunger at a Lost Spring area camp northwest of Parowan. He was found near his wagon door unconscious but revived and moved to the county hospital, where he is recovering with no further complications reported.
