A devoted wife mother and civic church volunteer she has led Red Cross nursing and blood drives and served in LDS organizations while raising nine children with husband Amos C Hatch a World War II lieutenant colonel. Dr Carlson Terry Leaves Parowen for St George Marci Ist
Dr Carlson Terry, Parowen’s dentist for 16 months, will move to St George Marci Ist to take over Dr Alpine Prince’s practice. The move reflects a larger Washington County market with two dentists joining the service and a third recent death. The Chirp couple, Chie and Clair Dale Rowley, have become active in civic and church life and plan to sell their new home as they depart amid strong local good wishes.

Recreation meeting set for March 1 in Parowan
The Parowan Chamber of Commerce invites all clubs and citizens to a March 1 meeting at 8 PM in the Courthouse. Organizers seek ideas for a 1954 recreational program for children and youths, including rifle range, horsemanship, athletics, and youth activities. Hatch To Lead Iron County Red Cross Board
A C Hatch elected chairman of the Iron County Chapter of the American Red Cross in Cedar City. He succeeds Gustive O Larson after a special election. Larson served nine years, while retiring secretary L Jones leaves Cedar. Hatch will appoint a new secretary Whitney Jensen, with Jack Todd as second vice president. Due to popular demand a repeat performance of Parowan High School’s operetta Mississippi Melody is set for Monday night director Wilford Young reports. The Wednesday show drew a full house with strong praise for the cast including Charles Topham David Orton Lyle Dalton Victor Norman Roy Rummier and Sanford Topham as they portrayed Mark Twain characters in five short Missouri town scenes.

Parowan Church Supper Brings Stake Priests and Partners
Parowan Stake High Priests' Quorum and their partners joined Parowan First Ward Quorum members for a supper in the First Second Ward Church banquet room attended by about 130 people. A post dinner program featured opera numbers by College of Southern Utah soloists directed by Prof Blaine Johnson and a Parowan sixth grade skit supervised by Mrs Jean Hendrickson. Amos Hatch led the arrangements with help from his committee.

Power Co Agrees To Delay Increase In Rates
Parowan City officials and Southern Utah Power Company representatives met last Friday to stall a proposed rate hike. S.U.P officials agreed to maintain the current schedule while the Public Utilities Commission investigates. The contract renewal, dated January 12, would have raised the demand rate from 1.25 to 1.50 per KWH and the energy rate from 0.5 to 1.5 mills per KWH, with Parowan as a major municipal purchaser.
