Southern Utah civic leader Samuel Abbott dies at 67
Samuel Abbott a Paragonah dairy farmer and longtime Iron County School Board member as well as former Paragonah mayor died of a heart attack at a basketball game in Parowan. Born May 2 1889 in Santa Clara he moved to Paragonah at seven and married Susan Myrtle Robinson in 1914. Survived by widow four children sixteen grandchildren and several siblings. funeral services set for Tuesday at the Paragonah Ward Chapel.

Car Accident Injures Local Man Near Escalante
Bob Guymon of Parowan is hospitalized in Panguitch after a Sunday automobile wreck near Escalante Garfield County. He sustained a broken collarbone fractured ribs and a collapsed lung when his car left a sharp turn overturned into a ditch. He was alone in the car and was aided by bystanders who found him and transported him to the hospital for several days of treatment.
