Funeral services held for Thomas Grant Jones
Funeral services for Thomas Grant Jones were held February 13 in the Paragonah Ward Chapel. He died of a heart attack February 9 in Iron County hospital. Music featured Melva Barton and several musical groups. Speakers included W. Clair Rowley and Bishop Victor Robinson. Burial was performed by Robert Lamoreaux. Jones, born March 13, 1906, married Geneva Robb and Iris Bell Smith, leaving two daughters, a son, three stepchildren, and seven grandchildren along with siblings.

The Dixie National Forest logged 75 238 head of livestock on range in 1956 under Assistant Forest Supervisor Leland D Heywood. Cattle and horses numbered 20 493 with 54 385 sheep. 595 grazing permittees owned stock. Cross-forested animals totalled 2 690 sheep and 762 cattle horses. Only 765 16 acres remain open to grazing across 132 allotments. Losses rose in 1956 with 179 cattle, 1 471 sheep. 13 cattle and 269 sheep died from poisonous plants. 318 sheep fell to predators. Rangeland reseeding covered 1810 acres. 1500 more planned. Rehabilitation reached 60 308 acres.

Final Rites for Samuel Abbott at Parowan Ward Chapel
Funeral services were held Tuesday February 12 in the Paragonah Ward Chapel for Samuel Abbott who died Wednesday night in Parowan while attending a basketball game. Prelude music by Melva Barton and vocal numbers by the choir and soloists accompanied the service led by Dr. J. S. Prestwich and Bishop Victor Rovinson. Interment followed in the Paragonah cemetery with grave dedication by Nathan Abbott.
