Sgt Expl W Orton son of Mr and Mrs Ellis Orton of Parowan Utah was discharged from the Army at Fort Douglas Separation Center after fourteen months overseas with the Air Transport Command in the Asiatic Pacific theater. T Ross H Barrick husband of Arlene Stubbs Barrick of Parwin has been discharged from the Army and is visiting in Cedar City. he served fourteen months overseas in the European theater. Chester Muir husband of Norma Rasmussen Muir of this city was released from the Army at Fort Douglas and is home with his wife and two sons after service in the Philippines with the Red Arrow division. T Kent R Ward son of Clair S Ward of this city was discharged at Fort Douglas. he served in Southern France to Germany and Austria after enlisting in June 1943 and May 1944 overseas, and was a Dixie College student before service.

Cedar City to Host State Tax Office for License Plates
County Assessor Hillman Dalley says a Utah State Tax Commission branch will open in Cedar City next Monday morning February 4 to help car owners obtain license plates. Reed Esplin, a former Cedaman, will lead the office. Mrs Barbara M Adams reports a Women's Auxiliary meeting at Hotel Utah with music by Fae Thornton Hutchings daughter of Roy and former Parowan residents. Hutchings sang and accompanied herself on piano or guitar, and her mother asked to send regards to Pat-Owah friends. Kent Guymon, son of Mr and Mrs Ross Guymon, was inducted into the Army January 9 and is stationed at Fort Lewis Washington as the county's sole inductee under the January quota.

A young couple, Bonnie Benson and Eugene Clack, survived monoxide gas exposure after a car heater leaked exhaust in a parked vehicle outside the Benson home. Neighbors rushed to aid them with artificial respiration until Dr Wilkerson arrived. both recovered. A Monday evening reception in the recreation hall celebrated Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hulet following their wedding at the St. George temple last Wednesday. Relatives from Parowan and Cedar City attended as Clair Hulet led a 4:30 program with talks by Bishop W. Leonard Evans and John Stevens of Cowley Utah. Musical numbers came from George Grimshaw Cedar City and Mrs Walter Stevens Byron Wyoming, with Mrs Arvilla Day and daughter Wvonne Cedar City and community singing led by Mrs Iona Topham. Guests enjoyed refreshments and dancing to an Enoch orchestra.
