Naval enlistee home after two years in Aleutians
Seaman Henson is back from 22 months in the Aleutian Islands and will have a 30 day leave with his parents Mr and Mrs Lucius Henson at Parovan after arrival Tuesday. He enlisted thirty months ago and is currently on Adak Island.

The Tophams once lived in Parowan and their grandmother attended.

Rex L Barton Wins Poem Contest In Salt Lake Tribune
Rex L Horton, nine, son of Ted and Thora Barton, won first place in the nine to eleven age group of the Salt Lake Tribune Christmas writing contest. A fourth grader at Parowan Elementary, he studied under Mrs. Virginia Lowe. His five line poem "Christmas Bells" earned him twenty dollars and publication in Sunday’s paper.

Susan M. Michelson Dies in Parowan Age 75
Susan M. Michelson, 75, of Parowan, Utah, died Sunday morning after four months of illness. Born April 2, 1872, in Spring Valley Nevada, she lived in Parowan since infancy and was a longtime member of the LDS Church. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the West Ward Chapel with Bishop W. Lennard Evan officiating. interment followed at the cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Preparations progress for Parowan celebration January 12 13 and 14 with a committee chaired by Albert E Adams to provide decorative banners and signs. A miniature replica log council house will greet travelers on the south end of the street and a Boy Scout insignia will be placed near the highway. Rock lettering will light up at night highlighting the centennial event.
