Byron A Robinson Dies Buried Today Paragonah
Relatives and friends mourn Byron A Robinson of Paragonah who died Tuesday at Tron County Hospital after a heart attack. Born April 1911, he battled rheumatic fever as a child, trained as an electrician and mechanic, served on the Paragonah Town Board, and worked at Jones Garage Cedar City. He married Lazona Robb in 1937 and was active in scouting and church roles. Survived by wife, five children, parents, sisters, and grandparents. Funeral 2 PM in Paragonah ward chapel with Paragonah ward bishopric officiating.

Legion to Sponsor Final Holiday Dance
The Parowan Post No 20 of the American Legion will sponsor the final holiday dance Monday night in the school gymnasium with the MLA Snowball orchestra. Other items include the Gun and Red dance tonight, a Parowan versus Millard high school basketball game Saturday, and a Sunday reception for service men and women. Recent events drew large crowds to Christmas tea programs and the MLA Snowball event.

Bettridge Recalls Pacific Island War Action
Sergeant Keith H. Bettridge of Parowan describes his unit’s actions on Eniwetok Saipan and in the Marshall Islands. He recalls knocking out pill boxes with a 105 mm howitzer tank chassis, aiding riflemen, and enduring intense fighting before his evacuation for a back ailment. He earned the Combat Infantryman Badge for valor in action.

Orton to Leave Utah Service Station. Bentley to Take Over
Lollin D. Orton will sever his ties with the Utah Service Station at year start and move to San Diego to work in a war plant. Charles F. Bentley, already at the station since its reopening, will assume managerial duties and the station will stay company operated with an additional helper to be assigned after Orton departs. Grace Butt and Gloria Matheson plan to relocate to Ogden for Civil Service war plant or office jobs.

Parowan City Budgets Pass At Special Meeting 1945
Parowan City council approved a budget of 28355.68 for 1945 at a special Tuesday hearing with no public comment. The budget, $2000 higher than last year, anticipates revenue exceeding expenditures by about six thousand, driven by wage raises and added staff for the electric and water systems. A county budget hearing for 1Ton County was underway this morning and a county board meeting on 1945 unfinished business was slated for this afternoon at the courthouse.

A Sunday reception will honor all local service members home on furlough or leave. It is set for Sunday afternoon, December 21, from 4 to 6 PM at Westward Church, following the Sacrament service at the Eastward chapel. Parents of service members will also be honored. organizers include Service Men's Wives Club and the American Legion Auxiliary with Oleta B.
