The holiday season unfolds with peaceful spirit and community events. Westward MIA held a Thursday dance, Sunday School pageant and Christmas tree followed, with additional dances planned Friday and Saturday to conclude the period.
County officials approved the next year budget with no public opposition at Monday’s hearing. After minor changes, the budget was adopted largely as published previously. George A. Lowe petitioned to narrow Parowan Lane to four rods for fence adjustments, to be raised at a related meeting.
The B B Better Babies Club held a dancing party Monday evening at the home of Attorney and Mrs. Durham Morris. At a recent meeting the Gun and Rod Club voted against raising hunting and fishing license charges stating it would harm all stakeholders. A committee led by P A Clark was formed to draft resolutions for a Thursday session and Clark was chosen to represent at a Salt Lake City gathering January 10. Officers will be elected and the annual ball will follow at 7 o'clock.
Iron County will hold four terms of court in 1927 per Judge Burton's calendar. First term January 3 at 2 PM, second April 18, third September 26, and an extra term January 1 for clearing backlogged cases. Other counties’ terms listed with dates and locations.
A reader suggests forming a corporation to develop underground water on 20 000 acres in a valley water belt to grow beets alfalfa seed and finish stock. The plan would issue stock to labor, seek large loans guaranteed by 80 percent for water development and fencing, and involve profit sharing to attract workers. A 6 000 acre beet area could attract a sugar factory and rail link, boosting local cheese and meat markets.

Little Virginia Bergstrom of Cedar City spends a few days in Parowan visiting her grandfather, Mr. Wm. Mitchell at his home.
An old city ordinance record notes Parowan City Utah amending and extending license provisions for peddlers hawkers and merchants. It expands sections on licenses, adds new subsections 166e 166f 166g and 166h, and sets advance payment amounts for various licenses including fruit vegetables medicines notions and machinery. The ordinance preserves existing merchant licenses and outlines terms and conditions.
A letter from Otto, Wyoming resident Clark W. Lyman, dated Dec 20 1926, discusses growing turkey farming as a profitable venture. He notes fences protect crops from coyotes, references Clover seed and sheep as alternatives, cites a Christmas shipment of four turkeys netting 218.33, and predicts big opportunities in Parowan and the Big Horn Basin with cooperative effort from real people.
The largest turkey shipment ever leaving the Basin area is being gathered this week and will return to growers at least 200000 dollars. Ten cars are loaded from Cody Powell Lovell Greybull Werland Basin with a price of 43 cents per pound, a record for the state. Many birds were fed with remarkable prices per bird as gathering finishes today and tomorrow.
Gunlock Utah letter from J. P. Bowler describes a broken foot, a paralytic stroke to his wife, and financial and health hardships before Christmas. He thanks Editor Mitchell and sends best wishes to readers and friends in Parowan.
Henry W. Lunt former Stake President of the Parowan Stake and noted Utah leader died at his Cedar City home after weeks of illness. He served as mayor, county commissioner, state senator, and chaired the Utah State Road Commission, contributing to roads and development. Funeral set for Friday to allow daughter Ione to attend from New York. Survived by widow Rose H. Lunt and seven children, with relatives across Utah and Washington.
Arch Benson and two Parowan youths Verlll Orton and Frank Stevens survived a frosty crash near A. Bdam Millard Co. last Thursday. Frosted windshield blinded Benson causing him to strike a curb and dam guard car, damaging the vehicle and injuring passengers. They rode home with help from a local man, arriving about two a.m. Mrs Wardig was among those returning for the holidays.
