Funeral services were held Thursday at 1 p m in Paragonah ward chapel for Wm F Stapley well known resident who died Monday at his daughter Loreen Schenck’s Caliente Nevada home. He was born April 2 1870 in Toquerville, married Lacey Barton in 1897 and had ten children. He survived by his widow eight children and 20 grandchildren.

He served two years in the Pacific mostly on an aircraft carrier and was home a month during which he married Elaine Johnson.

Music Groups To Present Cantata In Cedar City
The Christmas Cantata The Music of Christmas will be staged in Cedar City’s Third Ward chapel next Sunday evening by the Ladies Victory Chorus the Yankee Singers and the P H S Girls Chorus under Newell B Weight. All Cedar City wards suspend regular meetings that afternoon for the event with a rehearsal scheduled for Saturday at 7 PM in the East Ward chapel and KSUB radio will air a half hour of programming before the performance.

Mortensen Receives Chance at Annapolis Naval Academy

The groom, son of Mr and Mrs Ange A Topham, recently released from three years in the Army, formerly worked at Southern Utah Dairy Co and is now employed in Cedar City. the couple will likely reside there.

Rams Start Basketball Season at Dixie Next Friday

Transients Sentenced for Robbery in Utah
Richard W. Kirk of Bethel Maine and Betty J. Keiser of St Johnsville New York were sent to Utah State Prison last Friday for five years to life for robbery and assault with intent to kill. Kirk pled guilty to both charges while Keiser pled guilty to robbery and not guilty to the second count. trial set for February 6 at 10 p.m. Three divorce actions were heard. Heap Height, Joseph, and Fales granted interlocutory decrees with custody and support terms outlined.
